Legislative Advocacy to support all legislation aimed at bettering conditions of ALL children is a primary activity of every Jack and Jill of America, Inc. chapter. Past and present legislative advocacy focus has been on violence in the media, health and wellness initiatives, voter registration, responsible gun laws, and equal access to quality education. GSM aligns its legislative program with the national and regional legislative program thrusts to develop local programs to move concerns into action and advocate for legislation that enhance the lives of children and families. Current GSM Legislative advocacy and programs are focused on the importance of voting rights, dismantling hair discrimination in the workplace and school through supporting of the Crown Act, and being civically engaged by spearheading letter writing campaigns to local officials.
